Update: should we stay or should we go now..

So a little update on our progress to hit the road since it's been so long since I last wrote.

Over the last 6 months we have been researching and deciding how we can hit the road sooner. Good news is we have cut our debt in half (feels good but can't wait till zero!) We have some ideas for making money on the road but still nothing concrete.

We still haven't decided what we want, actually we know exactly WHAT WE WANT,  Dodge Ram 3500, diesel, mega cab, dually for the tow vehicle converted to run on vegetable oil!

We would also like a 40ft 5th wheel toy hauler, the keystone fusion 395 model like below.

Now back to reality, we can't afford these toys but we have purchased this for temporary trips.

I know it's quite the downsize but we are trying to find a compromise!

I (the dreamer) want to hit the road ASAP and don't care if we have a guaranteed income, Jorge (the practical one) wants to wait till we have paid off the debt, are able to buy the RV with little or no payments and have a source of income before leaving.

So this is what we are working with, a 9 person Embark cabin tent with a porch and our current vehicle is a Chrysler town & country mini-van for 5 Chicks, a Dude and a Dog!

The updated plan is to take frequent weekend trips for now and in the summer hit the road for 6 weeks.

We took our van in for an oil change and to fix a broken light and found out there is a major oil leak and it would cost over $3,000! We don't want to put that much into it and so it is time to buy another vehicle. So we are looking into what would be the best vehicle to help us get around and also be good for the road. We are considering a 15 passenger van (yes like the one we sold 6 months ago!) or a conversion van. The 15 passenger van would give us all the space we need, and now I have the vision to make it more comfortable with a few upgrades and changes and it would be cheaper than a conversion van.
We would be able to pull a lightweight trailer under 10,000lbs. So we will be doing some research on that for now.
